Tim Beebe joins CTSI as Community and Collaboration co-lead

CTSI welcomes Tim Beebe, PhD, to the leadership team as co-lead for the Community and Collaboration component of the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA). Dr. Beebe is Mayo Professor of Health Services Research, Policy, and Administration, and Division Head of Health Policy and Management in the School of Public Health

Beebe joins Mickey Eder, PhD, Director of CTSI’s Community Engagement to Advance Research and Community Health (CEARCH) program, in leading this component of the CTSA. He will also engage with CTSI Executive Leadership and Hub Leadership Teams through regular meetings and collaboration.

“Tim and Mickey bring strong, complementary expertise to the Community and Collaboration area, and I’m excited to see the outcomes of their leadership and collaboration,” stated Bruce Blazar, MD, Director of CTSI.

Beebe succeeds Michael Oakes, PhD, former Associate Vice President for Research and Professor in the Division of Epidemiology and Community Health, School of Public Health.

Beebe brings expertise in working with the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) CTSA Program through his past collaboration with the Mayo Clinic’s CTSA, the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCaTS). Since arriving at the University in 2016, Beebe has built collaborations with CTSI’s hub partners, including Hennepin Healthcare and the Minneapolis VA Health Care System, and with CTSI’s Education function, CTSI-Ed. He served on both the CTSI-Ed Internal Advisory Board and the CTSI-Ed Executive Leadership Group and established program collaboration between the Learning Health System Career Development Program and CTSI-Ed’s K Scholar Seminar.

Beebe’s research interests include survey methodology as well as patient-reported outcomes measurement, developing and testing health measures, health care policy, health care access for vulnerable populations, and learning health systems research, a form of health services research that is defined by its embeddedness in health systems. He leads the Minnesota Learning Health System Mentored Career Development Program, funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality/Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. Learning health systems research is a priority of the national CTSA Program and will be integral in Beebe’s leadership in this area for CTSI.
