The University of Minnesota’s Clinical Research Support Center (CRSC) recently opened in its space on third floor Diehl Hall and will begin supporting University of Minnesota faculty conducting clinical research during its soft launch phase over the summer.
The CRSC is a partnership between the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, Fairview Health Services, and University of Minnesota Physicians to offer U of M investigators and study teams an easier way to navigate the complex clinical research environment and advance research projects through the process more quickly.
The developing center brings together content experts from more than 20 functional clinical research service groups in a single physical location convenient to investigators and staff. It aims to reduce study start-up to first accrual timelines by assisting researchers and study teams in working through clinical research administrative tasks like budgets, contracts and IRB guidance in parallel across the four entities.
The CRSC collaboration is supported by institutional leadership, a steering team comprised of leadership across all clinical research service groups, and has been informed by work of more than 150 individuals across the University of Minnesota’s clinical research community. Refining over the summer
Over the summer, staff in the CRSC will work with investigators on a pilot basis to refine processes and workflows, and plans to fully open the CRSC to researchers and clinical research staff on September 4, 2018.
