StudyFinder kiosk connects University of Minnesota Medical Center visitors with health research opportunities

CTSI’s StudyFinder kiosk, an interactive web-based tool that enables visitors to explore University health studies currently seeking participants, is now located in the lobby of the University of Minnesota Medical Center, East Bank.

StudyFinder is a University of Minnesota website that displays a searchable listing of studies, which are extracted from ClincialTrials.gov and updated daily. Beyond the kiosk, the public can connect with StudyFinder on their computers or mobile devices at studyfinder.umn.edu.

CTSI is spearheading the StudyFinder initiative to make it easier for Minnesotans to get involved with health research.

The kiosk was most recently at the Minnesota State Fair and it was previously stationed at CTSI’s Delaware Clinical Research Unit on the University of Minnesota’s East Bank.

“StudyFinder gives people a simpler way to find and connect with a variety of research studies happening at the University and find a study that’s right for them,” said Melissa Mueller, Recruitment Services Manager, CTSI. “As the kiosk travels to various locations, we hope to empower people to make a difference in health issues that matter most to them, while supporting the research teams who need volunteers before their discoveries can help patients.”

Plans are underway for StudyFinder and other health research initiatives to be part of the University of Minnesota Health's new Clinics and Surgery Center, slated to open February 2016.
