PCORnet and OneFlorida+

PCORnet is a national network that connects health systems, researchers, and patients to support large-scale, patient-centered clinical research using standardized health data.

Funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), PCORnet brings together Clinical Research Networks (CRNs) representing healthcare institutions across the United States. The University of Minnesota participates in PCORnet as a member of the OneFlorida+ Clinical Research Network.

Through this partnership, UMN investigators can pursue opportunities for multi-site research, cohort feasibility, data-only studies, and clinical research collaborations through OneFlorida+ and the broader PCORnet network.

PCORnet and OneFlorida+ resources available to UMN investigators

The network can support investigators with:

Opportunities to collaborate with investigators and healthcare systems across OneFlorida+ and the national PCORnet network.
Cohort feasibility to assess the potential study populations across participating institutions.
Standardized clinical data using the PCORnet Common Data Model (CDM).
De-identified or limited data sets for approved research.
Support for study planning, site collaboration, recruitment, and patient-centered research.

Available data may include EHR data, claims, and patient-reported information. The type and level of data available depend on the research request, participating sites, and applicable approvals.

OneFlorida+ Data Trust

In addition to participating in the national PCORnet network, UMN investigators can request data from the OneFlorida+ Data Trust, a centralized repository containing longitudinal health data contributed by OneFlorida+ organizations. The Data Trust represents approximately 32 million patients and can support cohort feasibility and approved research using data from across the OneFlorida+ network.

Multi-site research through PCORnet

PCORnet supports multi-site research proposals that:

Involve two or more PCORnet Clinical Research Networks (CRNs).
Engage participants throughout the project.
Include plans to broadly disseminate findings and return results to participants.
Share study progress, performance metrics, and best practices with the Network.
Leverage the PCORnet Common Data Model (CDM) as appropriate.

UMN investigators may pursue projects using the OneFlorida+ Data Trust, the broader PCORnet network, or both, depending on the research question and sites or populations needed.
