CTSI team member Chao Yang named 40 under 40 in Public Health

The de Beaumont Foundation recently recognized Chao Yang, Assistant Director of our Community Engagement to Advance Research and Community Health (CEARCH), as one of the “40 under 40 in Public Health.” 

The award recognizes leaders in public health who are improving the health of communities across the country with new ideas, creative problem-solving, and innovative solutions.

Chao joined CTSI in July of this year and has worked collaboratively with CEARCH leadership, the CEARCH Management Council, and CTSI staff and faculty to develop, lead, and sustain community-engaged research initiatives, programs, and activities. 

“Over the last few months, Chao has infused CTSI’s work with her deep knowledge of community engagement best practices and public health strategy,” said Michele Allen, MD, MS, CEARCH Co-Director. 

CEARCH Co-director Jerica Berge, PhD, MPH, shared, “Chao is highly deserving of this recognition from the de Beaumont Foundation and we know she will continue to bring her passion and expertise for health equity work to CTSI, CEARCH, and over the course of her career.”

As one of the de Beaumont Foundation’s 40 under 40, Chao joins a cohort of leaders from 27 states whose work has strengthened the public health system and made communities healthier. The award recognizes Chao’s accomplishments throughout her career, including during her previous role as senior public health educator for Ramsey County Public Health.
