CTSI hires Clinical Research Manager for Department of Psychiatry clinical research

CTSI has hired Mahrya Johnson, CCRP, CPT, as the new Clinical Research Manager for the Department of Psychiatry as part of its responsibilities for the department’s clinical research involving human participants.

Previously, Mahrya worked in research at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota for 12 years. This includes seven years serving as a Clinical Research Program Manager, in which she facilitated day-to-day operations, managed program staff, and collaborated with investigators to design, develop, and implement studies.

She received a bachelor’s degree from College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, and is pursuing an MBA from the University of St. Mary’s in Kansas, Missouri.

Beginning March 6, Mahrya will provide leadership for the day-to-day operations related to the conduct of clinical research in the Department of Psychiatry, including partnering with department administration, faculty, and PIs to meet research requirements, address departmental research needs, and assist PIs and staff in navigating all aspects of study conduct—from startup to closeout—to ensure efficient and compliant processes.

In 2015, work groups from the Human Research Protection Program, overseen by the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR), recommended that CTSI assume management of interventional drug and device trials involving human subjects in the Medical School’s Department of Psychiatry beginning July 1, 2016 due to its expertise in clinical research.

Mahrya can be reached at [email protected]. Her office is located within the Department of Psychiatry, on the second floor of the Fairview Riverside West Building.
